Girls: All girls must have their hair in a bun. It is for discipline, line and the ability to move & see. Pre Ballet, Pre-Primary & Primary: Pink ballet tights or anklet socks, pink full sole ballet slippers, sleeveless pink leotard with wrap pink skirt. (available at Empire Dance) -Grades 1 & 2: Sleeveless (tank) Lilac leotard with lilac elastic belt, pink anklets or tights, pink full sole ballet slippers with elastic, character skirt & shoes. You will need to purchase black trigger material, and have one made - Yardage: (approx age 7, 8) 1 7/8 yds; (age 9 - 12) 2 1/2 yds; add an extra 1/4 yd if tall, above 12 yrs 3 1/3 yds OR order from New York, Lilly’s Creation www.characterskirt.com or email lilly@characterskirt.com., approx $42 OR Empire Dance Shop is carrying for the older children (ie Gr. 5 – 8) Grades 3, 4 & 5: Sleeveless navy blue tank leotard with matching elastic belt, pink tights, pink full sole ballet slippers with elastic, character skirt and shoes. (read above for skirt info.) Intermediate Foundation, Inter. & Advanced: Black camisole leotard, pink tights, full sole ballet slipper w/ ribbons, pointe shoes. For exams, shankless pointe shoes needed for Inter/Adv exam students.
Boys: Pre-Ballet - Grade 2: White tank or short sleeve leotard with black bike shorts. White ballet slippers and white anklets. Character/jazz shoes for Grade 1 & up. Grade 3 & up: Same as boys above but with black tights. Tank leotard for major male dancers.
Jazz/Tap: Black tap/jazz shoes, black jazz pants and appropriate top of choice. The ballet outfit may be purchased from the Empire Dance Shop, 131 S. Sherman between 2nd and Pacific Avenues. Please do not buy the ballet slippers from Payless Shoes because the soles are too firm and do not help or flatter the child's foot when pointed.
