Sandra Olgard's Background:
My training as a child was with the Royal Academy of Dancing with training in London, England, Edmonton, Vancouver, and The Banff School of Fine Arts. With my height of 6'1" my career in dance was with the MGM in Las Vegas, the Lido in Paris, France and at Sun City, South Africa.
I am a certified and registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, I have been teaching the Royal Academy syllabus for 30+ years. The Royal Academy of Dancing is the largest, most influential public examining body for classical ballet in the world, operating in over 50 countries around the world. It has come to represent the very highest standards in the teaching world of classical ballet. Teachers, dancers, doctors, and physical therapists are all involved with the content of the syllabus. As a teacher, it gives me faith to know that what is required of a child at a certain age is appropriate, so as to not damage any knees, ankles, feet etc.
Where we Perform:
Each year I have had a large production including the ballet Coppelia, La Fille Mal Gardee, Sleeping Beauty and Midsummer Nights Dream. My students have been asked to perform in the Lilac Festival's Variety Show at the Met, the Shriner's Hospital, the Eagles, Rotary Club, and the Spokane Club's Christmas Program. We also have performed for Christmas Tree Elegance, the Wishing Star Foundation and many of my students have successfully auditioned and performed in the Spokane Symphony's Nutcracker.
Besides classical ballet the studio also offers modern, tap, and jazz dance with our talented and popular Miss Kate Cornwall. The other teachers include Ann Eldore, Lauren Bray, Tamara Zink, Serena Caryl, and myself for ballet. These teachers have all trained with the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus with many years of teaching experience. Lauren also has her Advanced Certification and a degree in Dance from the Univ of MT.
