Back-to-Studio FAQ’s

Question: I paid my registration and recital fees when I registered. When do I pay for tuition?

Answer: Invoices for first trimester tuition will be send via email the first week of September. Tuition is due by the first class. You pay online by following the links in your email, or you may bring cash or check to the black mailbox at the bottom the stairs inside the studio.

Question: When is the studio closed for holidays and breaks?

Answer: Our year-long calendar is on the first page of our Studio Guide.

Question: Which door do I use?

Answer: As stated in our Studio Guide, everyone should enter through the door at the top of the parking lot stairs except for Monday 4:15 Primary students and Thursday 3:30 Primary students. This will help us mitigate traffic jams!

Question: Where do I pick up my child?

Answer: All students leave through the parking lot stairs. Pre-Ballet through Primary dancers are escorted by the teacher or teacher’s assistant. Grade One and up are allowed to leave by themselves.

Question: Am I allowed to watch?

Answer: Due to space constraints and the fact that some dancers are distracted and/or uncomfortable with an audience, parents are not allowed to watch class. Once during each trimester, we have a Watch Week where guests are invited to see what we’ve learned. Check the Studio Guide for dates! Otherwise, parents may leave the premises or be downstairs in our waiting room.

Question: You have a waiting room? What about a dressing room?

Answer: Our basement waiting room has a bathroom, as well as a dedicated changing room. Please make use of it if you have a tight turnaround after school!

Question: What should my dancer wear?

Answer: Our dress code is on the last page of our Studio Guide. You may purchase your dancewear anywhere you like, but we recommend our online boutique, especially for the no-tie ballet slippers!

Our online store is updated with everything you need to be in dress code, plus some extra items just for fun. The leotards and tights are high-quality, and the no-tie ballet slippers are great for little feet. For tappers, we’ve got tap shoes in lots of different styles, and we sell half-soles for contemporary dancers. Please note you will need to create an account to access the class lists and make a purchase.

Parents of Young Dancers:

You will see on our schedule that we have lots of options for Pre-Ballet (ages 3-5) this year! Here’s a quick explanation of each:

  • Monday, 2:15-2:45 p.m. - We’ve added this earlier timeframe since many preschoolers don’t have school on Mondays. Currently waitlisted.

  • Monday, 2:50-3:20 p.m. - We’ve adjusted the timeframe so that parents of elementary students can do school pick-up while their preschooler is in ballet.

  • Thursday, 10:45-11:30 a.m. - We call our morning session Ballet School, and we are looking for at least one more boy or girl to join. Because there’s no class before or after, and because we get an extra fifteen minutes, this class feels very calm and is a great introduction to a group setting. In addition to dancing, Miss Stephanie guides the children through related reading, math, science and art activities. Please spread the word to anyone looking for a Thursday morning activity for their 2.5-4-year-old.

  • Thursday, 3:00-3:30 - There are still spots in this section with Miss Stephanie!

  • Saturday, 9:00-9:30 - Just two spaces in available in Miss Sara’s weekend class. In addition to being a beautiful dancer with professional experience, she is very nurturing to young dancers and makes every class feel magical.

Do you have a toddler who loves to dance? Tiny Toes is for movers ages 18 months to 3 years old. For six weeks, a caregiver dances alongside their toddler in 30-minute sessions Miss Stephanie has designed with simple, engaging routines perfect for tiny attention spans and developing motor skills. There's no pressure to perform—just the delight of moving together and meeting other local families.

Ready to rediscover the joy of making music with your feet? Join Angie Brown for tap classes designed specifically for adults who want to challenge themselves, get fit, and have fun—all without the pressure of performance. Tappers of all experiences are welcome to register for this 8-week course!

Barre fitness combines the grace of ballet, the core strength of Pilates, and the flexibility of yoga. Using safe and effective movements, you will build muscular strength and endurance, enhancing your daily activities. Please join Stephanie and a group of fun women who don’t take themselves too seriously as they break a sweat on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We’re starting off our barre year with drinks and snacks after class on Tuesday morning!

Community Performance Opportunities

We are happy to share several opportunities for dancers to perform in winter productions this year:

  1. Spokane Ballet will host auditions soon for The Nutcracker with State Street Ballet and the Spokane Symphony. We will share information as soon as we receive it.

  2. The Parents of Ballet Arts Academy will hosting auditions for their production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, September 6. More information here: https://balletforyouth.org/audition

  3. The Academy of Dance (where our Miss Sara teaches during the week!) is presenting The Snow Queen in January, which is a nice alternative to The Nutcracker! Auditions are Saturday, September 6. More information here: https://www.spokaneaod.com/

Gratefully,

Ann & Stephanie
