It certainly feels like spring is in the air, and longer, warmer days remind us that recital season is upon us!
We are in our third and final trimester, and our dancers have shown so much growth. We are now focusing on musicality, teaching our dancers to listen to the music in order to “tell the story” with their whole bodies. Developing a strong sense of musicality is a lifelong skill that will help dancers feel confident on stage.
Musicality is also an assessed element of Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exams, which are Monday, March 23. A reminder: Pre-Ballet classes will be cancelled that day; classes will resume at 3:30 with Pre-Primary. Pre-Ballet students affected by the cancellation are welcome to attend either a Thursday or Saturday Pre-Ballet class, or join a Pre-Primary class. Just let Miss Stephanie know. Exam students have received information from Miss Ann about mock exams the afternoon of Saturday, March 14.
Our tap classes will get to showcase their musicality at the Inland Northwest Dance Association DanceFest on Saturday, March 21. Everyone is invited to this free event that celebrates dance in our region. Scroll for more details.
Please remember that picture day is also Saturday, March 21, and that you will need to register in advance. More details below.
Lots of “extras” are open for online registration now. Please scroll for details and links to online registration forms. Our summer program is open for registration, and our website is updated with current information. Register soon and share with your friends — classes fill up quickly. Our final sound bath for the dance year is Sunday, March 15. We will use gentle yoga and healing sound bowls to usher in the spring season with intention and ease. Spring Tiny Toes, our class for children 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers, begins Tuesday, March 17. Adult Tap also begins Tuesday, March 17, and there are limited spots available. Our final afternoon ballet camp of the dance year is Saturday, April 18. “Twirling through the Classics” will take dancers 3-6 on a an adventure through classic story ballets.
One final note: If you have wanted to take one of Stephane’s adult barre fitness classes but can’t do Tuesday or Thursday mornings, you can find her at Elevation Fitness (located in Physical Therapy Associates at 28th and Southeast Blvd.) on Wednesdays at 4:30 in the afternoon. Two of our dance parents work at PTA, and Stephanie is so excited to be part of the community there. Sign up on the MindBody app or through their website. |
